Curriculum Booklets

I am delighted to share some work that I have been doing in conjunction with Siobhan McKenna to build a new curriculum. This curriculum is being used in 2 Scottish secondary mathematics departments. It is a loose interpretation of Third Level, but straddles Second and Fourth level where appropriate. For colleagues in England this is links up with KS3.

*Disclaimer*: We do not own the copyright for some of the material in the curriculum booklets. We have created a significant amount of the material ourselves, but have borrowed from a vast array of places. We must acknowledge: Don Steward, Tony Gardiner, Craig Barton, John Mason, Malcolm Swan, Jo Morgan, Dave Taylor, Richard Perring, M.R. Heylings, SMILE, SMP and many others who have shared ideas which we have been able to utilise in this compendiums of tasks.

We will upload material here as it is developed. Part of the rationale for sharing is to improve the quality of the material. If you think you have a task which would be good to include or if you spot any errors please let either of us know via Twitter.

Phase 1 – Mixed Attainment Block

Used with pupils on initial arrival at Secondary school. This is a mixed attainment booklet which runs for a few weeks. We did the quizzes at the back on an ongoing basis to help determine the appropriate working level for pupils.

  • Area and Length (basics)
  • Order of Operations
  • Basic Fraction Work
  • Diagnostic Quizzes on basic number
