Division by Adding Fractions

This little task is incomplete was inspired by an observation in Jemma Sherwood’s excellent book “Enhance your Mathematics Subject Knowledge”.  I have compiled 4 examples at the top of the page.  I’m not sure if I like having as many as this, as it is perhaps too much help?   However, those 4 examples are insufficient, in themselves, to guide pupils to successful completion of this task.  There are many little tricky situations which crop up within.

I’ve included 12 questions, but it’s fairly easy to create more! I thought it was a nice observation from Jemma and the task helps to make connections across ideas in the subject – something I am very enthusiastic about doing.
